Disclosure: The team at Veo kindly sent me one of their beauty and well-being hampers to try. I received this product for free in return for providing my honest and unbiased review. I received no other compensation. All opinions expressed are truthful and 100% my own. I would like to thank them for the opportunity to enjoy and review this product.
I love buying from small independent retailers. All the searching for a specific item and then checking out the brand’s eco credentials is time consuming though.
There are days where I long for the ease that comes from shopping at big department stores whether in person or online; and that’s where Veo steps in.
Veo is an online sustainable shopping experience that fills the gap between the convenience of department stores and the desire to shop as ethically and sustainably as possible.
They describe themselves as “an immersive lifestyle platform, bringing you most unique independent sustainable brands in Fashion, Beauty, Food & Home.”
Showcasing 1000s of products from over 150 brands, Veo does the legwork for you, as each brand and product is assessed against their stringent checklist.
The range includes clothing for men, women and children; health and beauty items; food and drink; and also home and leisure.
My Veo Hamper
To introduce me to the range of brands Veo stock the PR team sent me a curated health and beauty hamper. I was pleasantly pleased to see that the company’s eco values filter all the way through to the packaging used for delivery. With all packaging materials being compostable or recyclable.
The hamper included seven items which showcased the variety of health and beauty brands and products that Veo stock. The items included were:
Clean U Skincare – Vegan Lip & Cheek Balm
Tabitha Eve – Organic Cotton Scrunchie
Flawless – Toner & Makeup Remover Pads
Buff Up – Seasalt Body Scrub
Getting to try each of the products was great fun and I especially love the Flawless Toner. It is now a regular feature in my skincare routine. Another firm favourite was the Buff Up Seasalt Body Scrub – the coarseness of the salt alongside the oil left my skin feeling revived and silky smooth.
The combination of items really did provide a great introduction to the vast array of items available to purchase from Veo.
Pricewise the items sent were reasonable and inline with what I would expect to pay at a high street chemist or department store.
This was a PR hamper so is not available to purchase but I was pleased to see when searching the Veo site that they do have gift sets available that would make perfect Christmas presents.
The Veo Website
Veo is an online sustainable department store so their website is their storefront. The site is visually easy to use with an off white background and black/dark grey text. The font is easy to read and overall it feels very clean.
The navigation is clear with there being different categories (or departments) for each of the product ranges. The home page also showed a selection of the range as well as having a handy alternative way to search called ‘shop your values’. I thought this was really helpful and would make shopping easier if for example you needed a vegan gift.
I really appreciated that the site worked equally well on both my phone and laptop as I’ve found a few shopping sites to not be mobile friendly.
A few final thoughts on Veo
Veo is definitely leading the way in creating an online sustainable department store that represents independent brands. They are an Ethical Consumer best buy for online retailers and their ethics is clear to see in all aspects of their business model.
They are a living wage employer, bank with Triodos, are 100% carbon positive and are both cruelty free and animal friendly. They also work with Ecologi as part of their dedication to reforestation and regeneration – at the time of this post in October 2021 they have planted over 1500 trees.
Veo’s wide product range means that there is something to suit all budgets. For me what makes them a great place to shop is the ease, the knowing that all the eco and ethical research has been done for me.
For me Veo is the perfect site for shopping for gifts as I can search by a number of different factors and they literally have a gift set to suit everyone.
Veo have given me a discount code to share: ECOISH10 – the first 10 readers to use this code will also be able to receive £10 off their order, so be quick!
